Two Weeks Old

She has a name!

We are happy to announce that Baby Cashew has been named! (It ONLY took us 2 weeks. Tee-hee)

Drum roll please...

Introducing Calah Ann Corbett

I fell in love with the name right after she was born; however, it took Carl about 30 times of vetoing it to come around. I picked the name and Carl got to pick the spelling. Compromise is grand, isn't' it?!

Calah is pronounced like Calla Lily and Ann is my Mom and Carl's Mom's middle name. So there you go...and no we aren't planning on changing it. :)

Want to go Outside?

Yea! It's finally time to put on swimsuits and go outside! (Well...it's exciting for Lilija at least.) Meg-Meg and Scott brought over a sprinkler and we tried to get the kids to play in it. They thought the sandbox was the place to be instead.

One Week Old

Nana and Lj at the park

Nana took Lilija to the park last week to give Carl and I some alone time with Cashew (not her real name...Lilija is Peanut so Baby Corbett has become Cashew) and it also gave Nana some time with Lilija. Win-win!!

A Note...

Thanks for all of your positive thoughts and prayers. We are all doing well. I'm healing and looking forward to my first adventure out of the house on Saturday. Sparky's blueberry pancake here I come!

Baby Corbett is doing great! She is growing and making all of the funny faces that babies do. She barely fits in her gowns because she is so long and likes to fall asleep while eating. We have discovered that her feet are VERY ticklish so playing with her feet usually keeps her up for a while. Last night she slept for almost 6 hours (YEA!!!!!!!) so we (Carl and I) feel like we're starting to come out of the fog a little bit.

Lilija has been adjusting as well as can be expected. She keeps saying, "Oh, baby so cute!" and then cries because she wants more attention. We've been trying really hard to spend as much time with her as possible and tell her that she is such a good helper. Funny...speaking of helper...the middies made me get a pack of Depends to use for the first day after she was born. We were changing Baby Corbett and asked Lilija to get a diaper for the baby. She ran off and came running back with a Depends and said, "Here you go!" Thanks Lilija, we were looking for one a bit smaller than that. :)

So, that's about it!

Love you all,
The Corbett's

One day old!

Baby Corbett

Announcing the newest member of the Corbett Family...

Baby Girl Corbett (nope...we still haven't found her perfect name quite yet)
Born at 7:43pm on May 15th
10 pounds 1 oz (yes, you read that right)
22 1/4 inches long

Daddy measured her feet because they look so long and he was right! They are 3.5 inches long already! No newborn clothes or shoes for this little girl!

The Baby! Born!

That is what Lilija said as soon as Baby Corbett was born! Yup, the baby is born! Finally!!

The Stages of Labor

You'll notice the progression...
First stage! Notice the smiling face and Carl is nice and relaxed in the background. This was at about 5:30am. Next stage. Contractions are getting stronger but I'm still able to smile afterwords. Starting to get cold...a sign that hormones are starting to rush through my body. This is about 9:00am. Fun fact - Right before you have a baby you have the equivalent of 100 birth control pills worth of hormones coursing through you. Interesting huh?Went for a walk. Had to stop and really focus on relaxing. 1:00pm4:30pm - Things really started to ramp up at this point. Final stage of labor here we come! That means that a baby is on the way...

Kysa "Crock Pot" Corbett

Yes, I am still pregnant. *sigh* Apparently I'm just a slow cooker. I've finally started cutting back my hours this week at work so that has been helping. And yes, we have tried everything. I have gotten a massage, pedicure, gone to the chiropractor, eaten spicy food, and have done other things. I'm thinking about trying out a trampoline or horseback riding next.

In all honesty, I'm feeling pretty outstanding for being over 41 weeks. Carl has been incredible and is doing a great job of taking care of me. Lilija is starting to figure out that a baby is going to be joining us. Just a couple of days ago she woke up and said, "Baby? Is baby born?"

I figure baby can't stay in there much longer and every day longer is one more warmer day of maternity leave. Right?

Oh, and another funny Lilija moment...yesterday morning when I was getting ready she came up to me and said, "Hi! I Lilija. Nice to meet you!" I just smiled and said, "Um...nice to meet you too!"

Anyhoo, thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We'll update the blog when the baby is born with information and pictures so this is the place to stay in the loop.

Love you all,
The Corbett's

Happy 2nd Birthday

I can't believe our little girl is already 2! That just doesn't seem possible. I'm sure I'll be saying that with each passing year but SERIOUSLY the time has flown by!GG Molin with Peanut reading a card. Lilija announced to everyone, "It's my birthday!" when they got to the door. Carl, Grandma Sherri and RobertNana, Bapa, Kari, Grandpa Mikers, and Auntie AlissaAuntie Trish and Uncle Andy - They got Lilija a mud pie making station with working water and everything! Yup, you KNOW that when they have kids that Carl and I will be more than happy to return the favor. :)GG Molin got Lilija a sand box for her birthday. She thought it was just a big turtle at first and then was super excited when she discovered that the top came off and there was sand inside of it! She would pat the sand and tell Jack, "Come, sit and play!" (and he listened)Yummy! First DQ ice cream cake. It was a hit! Happy Birthday Peanut! We love you!

First Haircut

So...yes, Lilija was rocking a baby mullet for a while, and it needed to change. Carl was worried that her curls would go away if we cut her hair, so I did what needed to be done by sneaking her to Great Clips when he was out-and-about. (Curls are still there. You can let out a sigh of relief.)

Lilija wasn't happy at first but as soon as she got a sucker she settled right down. It's amazing what a distraction a little bit of sugar can be!
